This is the first Dear Diary in our new place (although written at Hayley’s old place…no internet still…lol.) Anyway! It’s been a very exciting month!
Where We've Been
David: After the move, most of our time last Month was spent in the new house, pottering about and starting to get our things into place. Whenever we wanted a break from this though, we would just go out for a walk or take a trip to Ikea/any other furniture shops.
Hayley: We had to get all packed and ready to move at the beginning on this month, so we spent a lot of time back and forth to the tip, and boxing up our rooms! Then on the 11th of March we finally completed and began to move our stuff in. We didn’t properly move in until a week after this though, as we wanted to do it bit by bit. I didn’t want it to be stressful, and I just wanted to enjoy the whole experience. We took a week off leading up to the Easter weekend, and basically spent most days in and out of shops furniture hunting! Over Easter we spent a lot of time with family, which was a nice break from unpacking and building furniture.
What We've Been Watching
David: I haven’t been watching a whole lot of TV, as moving house meant that there was a period which we were without Sky. I had to wait for that to be installed before I could get my weekly fix of The Walking Dead, but now we’re up and running which is good!
Hayley: We both completed the final series of Fresh Meat, which I’m really sad about actually! I think I might re-watch them all again when we get Netflix! When we first moved into our place we had no internet (still don’t…) and no TV! So in the first few days we watched a few stand up comedies on DVD, and Dave really got into my old Little Britain boxset! But now we have Sky, and it’s nice to be able to catch all our favourite shows! We have missed the beginning of ‘Girls’, but when we get the internet we can catch up on that! Oh…and my guilty pleasure has been TOWIE!
What We've Been Listening To
David: At the start of the month I bought myself a compilation album by the funk band Vulfpeck, which a friend told me about and since then I’ve been really into them. On the other end of the musical spectrum I also bought Gold by Ryan Adams, which is 15 years old but still stands the test of time.
Hayley: We have been listening to a lot of radio this month when we didn’t have TV, and I’ve really got into Selena Gomez’s music! I’m desperate to buy her album, but it’s so far down the bottom of my priority list it’s probably not going to happen!!
What We've Bought
David: The main treats to myself have been the CDs I just mentioned, but we have also bought some bits for the house, which are pretty cool. We bought a 40” Sony Bravia that goes nicely in our lounge. Our lounge is quite a small room so a TV any bigger than that would look silly and a bit over powering! The boring purchase I’m most excited about though is our floor steamer which is great on the vinyl flooring!
Hayley: I shall bore you with the home stuff we’ve bought that has excited me the most this month! A fruit bowl from Home Sense, a touch sensitive kitchen bin, a Dyson, awesome under stairs storage, a washing machine that sings to me and an American style fridge freezer! I have also enjoyed buying people Easter gifts, including a Mr Potato Head egg for David!
Lessons Learned And Reflections
David: Balancing chores and housework makes a happy household!
Hayley: It’s normal to feel lost and overwhelmed when something huge happens to you. And it’s OK to miss home.
